The SPACEHAB Payload Processing Facility
(SPPF) hosts all payload integration activities for the SPACEHAB
module and ICC fleets. Located on a commercial site just
south of Cape Canaveral, the SPPF is designated as a Foreign
Trade Zone and is completely independent of Kennedy Space
Center (KSC) operations. This 58,000 square foot facility
offers Class 100,000 clean room accommodations, providing
mechanical and electrical ground support equipment enabling
the carriers and their payload complements to be tested prior
to delivery to the nearby KSC for final integration into
the shuttle.
Payload customer teams are housed in one of
eleven industrially-secure customer work areas. Much like
the facilities they occupy, the SPACEHAB staff tasked with
conducting ground operations is equipped with the latest
technologies as well as an ever-expanding knowledge base
to fulfill customer objectives in support of SPACEHAB's growing
complement of flight assets and services. Some of the amenities
provided in this facility include bonded storage, 14,000
sq ft integration hall, and administrative support areas. |
