October 10, 2005 SPACEHAB TEAMS WITH JUVENILE DIABETES RESEARCH
FOUNDATION They may not be faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive or capable of leaping a building in a single bound, but SPACEHAB employees are superheroes to some very special children. Superheroes Unite was the theme for the 2005 Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk for a Cure held recently at the University of Houston – Clear Lake. SPACEHAB, a long time supporter of the walk, raised $8,200, and more than 65 employees and their families laced up for the event.
“We have several employees who are directly impacted by this debilitating disease, so it is of no surprise that we had such an enormous turn-out,” said Michael Kearney, President and Chief Executive Officer. “SPACEHAB is not only a place of business but also a cohesive family, and when there is a call to action, our employees respond.” In addition to exceeding fundraising expectations, SPACEHAB took home the first place award for the JDRF Gulf Coast T-shirt contest, a second year in a row feat for SPACEHAB.
