SPACEHAB PRIMED TO PURSUE NEW OPPORTUNITIES
With a renewed spirit of discovery and exploration
sweeping the nation, the aerospace industry is burgeoning with new
possibilities and opportunities. SPACEHAB, a Webster-based commercial
aerospace company, has recently reinforced its internal capabilities
in an effort to accommodate the White House's new mandates for surmounting
the "next frontier".
Most recently, SPACEHAB has successfully completed the
transition of the company's systems integration and operations from its
Boeing subcontractor to an in-house capability. SPACEHAB personnel now
perform mission integration, hardware development, and sustaining engineering
required to support the flight of its laboratory and cargo modules on
the space shuttle. Today, the company is fully operational in these evolved
capabilities as it is currently supporting four of the next six space
shuttle missions. This move reduces costs, increases flexibility in responding
quickly to NASA requirements, and builds upon existing SPACEHAB abilities
needed to support future logistics and research missions to the International
Space Station. This action also provides the company a more comprehensive
team, further suited to pursue new commercial opportunities outlined
in the Nation's Space Vision.
In addition to expanding SPACEHAB's internal core competencies, the
company has promoted three key personnel and hired NASA and JSC veteran
Systems Division Chief, Richard Fitts, who will be bringing a wealth
of systems and exploration expertise to SPACEHAB's team. Kimberly Campbell
now assumes the role of Vice President, Corporate Marketing and Communications,
spearheading the Company's marketing, media and public relations efforts,
as well as its investor relations initiatives. Bryan Leger has also been
promoted to Vice President, leading corporate finance while continuing
to manage SPACEHAB's contracts department. And Nicholas Morgan now holds
the position of Vice President and Controller, where he oversees the
Company's accounting needs.
Growth and accomplishment are no small feat in today's
unpredictable economy. However, SPACEHAB has seized the opportunity that
the renewed sentiments for space exploration have presented, and is poised
to expand and pursue relevant business opportunities.
