Robert
McBrayer joins SPACEHAB as Deputy General Manager of Huntsville Operations
SPACEHAB,
Inc. (NASDAQ/NMS: SPAB), a leading provider of commercial space services,
today announced that Mr. Robert McBrayer has joined the Company as the
Deputy General Manager of SPACEHAB's Huntsville Operations. Reporting
to Carolyn Griner, who was the former Deputy Director of NASA's Marshall
Space Flight Center (MSFC) and is now the General Manager of SPACEHAB
Huntsville Operations, McBrayer is responsible for leading operational
activities and implementing new business initiatives, especially in the
area of microgravity research opportunities.
After 38 years of
service at NASA, McBrayer joined SPACEHAB in May 2001 with the purpose
of providing SPACEHAB services to MSFC and other aerospace companies and
customers in the Huntsville area. Originally stationed in Houston, McBrayer
joined NASA in 1963, moving to Huntsville in 1966 to work on the Skylab
Program. He later moved into the roles of Project Manager, Mission Manager,
Agency Working Group Leader, and Deputy Director of MSFC Safety and Mission
Assurance until he retired from NASA as the Director of Marshall's Systems
Management Office.
McBrayer will be a
leading force in the recently established Microgravity Alliance, a strategic
partnership comprised of several key Huntsville-based aerospace and technology
organizations joined to support the growing microgravity research and
support needs of NASA and its customers. "We are fortunate to have
an influential and distinguished person such as Mr. McBrayer join our
team," said Griner. "The heart of space research is in Huntsville,
and with Robert's support, SPACEHAB and its Microgravity Alliance will
be able to serve the microgravity community through a means previously
unavailable."
