SPACEHAB's
Carolyn Griner and Robert McBrayer Presented with Prominent NASA
Awards
SPACEHAB, Inc. (NASDAQ/NMS:
SPAB), a leading provider of commercial space services, today announced
that two members of SPACEHAB management were presented with prominent
NASA awards. Ms. Carolyn Griner, Vice President and General Manager of
SPACEHAB Huntsville Operations, and Robert McBrayer, Deputy General Manager,
were the recognized recipients.
Griner was presented
with NASA's Presidential Rank of Distinguished Executive award at the
Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) on June 26 by the Associate Administrator
of the Office of Space Flight, Joe Rothenberg, and the MSFC Center Director,
Art Stephenson. The award, signed by President Clinton, cited her for
sustained extraordinary accomplishment in management of programs of the
United States Government and for leadership exemplifying the highest standards
of service to the public, reflecting credit on the career civil service.
Distinguished Rank awards are given to only 1% of the federal Senior Executive
Service members and Griner was one of the three NASA recipients for the
year 2000.
At the same ceremony,
McBrayer was awarded the NASA Medal for Exceptional Achievement. The award
was bestowed for exemplary leadership in the formation and management
of the Marshall Space Flight Center's Systems Management Office. The first
such organization in NASA, this group was responsible for program/project
oversight, systems engineering, cost engineering, and export control.
Griner and McBrayer
joined SPACEHAB after retiring from NASA earlier this year. They are spearheading
a new venture, the Microgravity Alliance, (www.microgravityalliance.com)
which is comprised of several key Huntsville-based aerospace and technology
organizations. The Microgravity Alliance, led by SPACEHAB, maintains recognized
leadership in materials science and biotechnology research, systems engineering,
and integration. From concept to design, integration to operations, the
Alliance offers unique end-to-end capabilities for building and operating
research payloads in space.
