SPACEHAB NAMES BARDOS DIRECTOR, COMMERCIAL PROGRAMS
Vienna, VA, July 24, 1998 — SPACEHAB,
Inc. (Nasdaq: SPAB), the leading commercial services company supporting
manned and unmanned space missions, announces the appointment Russell
Bardos as Director, Commercial Programs. Bardos, who reports to Michael
E. Kearney, SPACEHAB Vice President for Marketing and Sales, assumes
primary responsibility for identifying and capturing new commercial space
opportunities for the Company.
Bardos brings to the job more than 35 years of experience covering
research, development, program management, commercialization and
marketing in the aerospace and energy fields. His most recent
position before joining SPACEHAB was Deputy to the Deputy Associate
Administrator for Space Flight (Space Shuttle) at NASA Headquarters
in Washington.
During his 17-year tenure at NASA, Bardos held a series of high-level
management positions, including Director, Office of Chief Engineer
in the Office of Space Flight, and Director of Space Shuttle Propulsion.
Previously, he had managed coal gasification commercialization
for the U.S. Department of Energy in Washington. In addition,
Bardos has 10 years of space-related business development in the
private sector.
SPACEHAB President David A. Rossi cited Bardoss decades-long
involvement in space transportation development and operations
as he announced the appointment. "Russs history of success in
managing complex, high-visibility technical programs of national
significance and his intimate knowledge of civil and commercial
space programs are a welcome addition to SPACEHABs growing marketing
and sales team," Rossi said.
Bardos holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from
the Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh, PA.
