Kearney Promoted at SPACEHAB

Vienna, VA, February 9, 1998 — Michael E. Kearney has been appointed Vice President, Marketing and Sales for SPACEHAB, Inc. (NASDAQ: SPAB), the leading commercial space services company supporting manned and unmanned missions in space. In this capacity he is responsible for generating sales for all SPACEHAB services and products, and for initiating new marketing campaigns.

Kearney's promotion, which is effective immediately, was announced by SPACEHAB President David A. Rossi. "Since joining SPACEHAB in 1994, Michael Kearney has been directly responsible for several important new business initiatives for the Company," Rossi said. "Chief among these were establishing our working relationship with the newly created United Space Alliance (USA), and laying the groundwork for our partnership with the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the Government of Brazil to develop a commercial X-Ray Crystallography Facility for the International Space Station."

In his previous position as SPACEHAB Vice President, Business Development, Houston Operations, Kearney established and maintained major account relationships and supervised the Company's Houston Business Development office. With his broadened corporate responsibilities, he will now relocate his office to SPACEHAB, Inc. headquarters located outside Washington, D.C. in Vienna, Virginia.

From 1991 to 1994, Kearney was employed by the then-McDonnell Douglas Corporation, first as Director of its crew and robotics systems business operation, and subsequently as Director, Advanced Product Development for the Space Station Division.

Previously, he served 25 years as a U.S. Navy Aeronautical Engineering Officer. He flew Navy fighter aircraft both in combat and in production acceptance roles, and acquired valuable expertise in government procurement, quality assurance and program management. His final assignment before retiring from the Navy was Program Manager for the A6/EA-6 aircraft program.

Kearney graduated Cum Laude from the Navy Postgraduate School with both a Bachelor's and a Master's Degree in Engineering.
