This photo album shows some pictures of the
early history of SPACEHAB, Inc. and the early evolution of
the SPACEHAB Modules that Tom Taylor and I patented in 1985.
This album is dedicated to the handful of people who helped
me get SPACEHAB off the ground - people who worked tirelessly
for four years, from 1983 to 1987 and got the company to
the point that highly experienced aerospace professionals,
investors, CSP Associates, Wall Street fund managers, NASA,
and major American and European aerospace companies became
interested in our concept. The first SPACEHAB mission aboard
the Space Shuttle was STS-57 which was launched on June 21st,
1993, exactly ten years after I founded SPACEHAB. All of the pictures in this album, except the
cover photo and the last page launch photo, were taken before
I hired Dick Jacobson to run my company in April, 1987 and
before Shelley Harrison joined the SPACEHAB Board of Directors
in August, 1987. Shelley joined the SPACEHAB management
team in August, 1993 ten years after I founded the company.
Of course if it wasn't for Jake and Shelley, and a number
of other dedicated professionals who joined my company later,
SPACEHAB would not have survived and become the company
it is today.
